11 Indians released from Nigerian prison

Eleven Indian crew members of a Merchant Navy firm who had been serving in Nigerian prison for the last two years have been released on July 3, confirmed by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in a tweet.

The entire ship crew was arrested for violating International Waters Laws when the ship got stranded in Nigeria in 2014.

In another tweet made by the minister, she appreciated the High Commissioner in Nigeria B N Reddy for his efforts in speeding up their release.

Meanwhile, Swaraj also assured that the government is making all efforts to secure the release of the two engineers abducted from Gboko town in Nigeria last week.
