Three passengers were confirmed dead of a 17-seater commercial bus after a truck crashed into their vehicle at the Berger area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The tragic incident happened yesterday 23rd June in Lagos State.
The driver of the overloaded bus, and 14 others were injured. The injured have been admitted at the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the Tollgate area while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the Lagos Mainland General Hospital morgue.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Michael Akindele, who confirmed the accident, said the agency received an alert about the accident via the 767/112 emergency numbers of the state.
Akindele said he was informed via the alert of an accident involving an LT commercial bus with registration number KRD 326 XG and an articulated truck, without a registration number, along Lagos Ibadan expressway inward toll gate by Corn Oil filling Station which occurred at about 5.36 am.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed the accident was as a result of reckless driving of the truck driver.
