Member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) involved in serious court case will not stand for election into any position in the National Working Committee.
The national convention comes up on May 21, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
While there are some high-ranking members being accused of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) but are yet to be taken to court, a few others are already facing charges.
Some of the indicted PDP chieftains undergoing trial are former Interior Minister, Abba Moro, PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, ex-governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, owner of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi and former acting chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Haliru Bello Mohammed, among others.
The decision, it was gathered, was to prevent any form of distraction that may affect the party’s efforts to reposition ahead of 2019.
The development may have informed the declaration by Metuh that he would not contest for any position at the convention.
